Since Greg and I will be going back to Naples in a couple weeks, I didn't do any of the formal cruise tours, and instead just did the hop-on, hop-off bus tour. It was an incredibly hot day, so most photos are pretty washed out, but here are a couple shots.
Part of the city of Naples, which was much larger than I expected. You can see the high-rises off in the distance. It was much more of a real city than and less of a tourist destination than most of the places our cruise stopped.
The castle that you first see from the port. It's from something like the 16th century and supposedly one of the main symbols of Naples.
Mt. Vesuvius off in the distance. There had to be some serious photo editing to make it visible through the haze, but there it is.
Police and army gearing up for what was a portent that was also gearing up. The police seemed much more organized than the protest who didn't have any signs up, so I couldn't really tell what they wanted.
There were lots of folks just looking out their windows at the streets below.
And then there was this guy. He could be thinking so many things.
